Absolutely confident’: Devasish Sharma says BJP will get ‘major support’ from minorities

BJP candidate Devasish Sharma has expressed confidence in his party's prospects in the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, saying he expects strong support from voters, including those in minority-dominated areas.

Speaking about the bypoll, Sharma said he was “absolutely confident” and that the BJP was fully prepared for the contest. He also extended his best wishes to candidates from other political parties.

Sharma thanked the people of Nagaon, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state BJP president, Cabinet ministers and MLAs for their support.

Highlighting the BJP's governments at both the Centre and in Assam, Sharma appealed to voters to prioritise development, saying people should look beyond “certain sentimental values” that may not be beneficial in the long run.

“I am sure all the people in the minority areas are also looking for development,” Sharma said, adding that he believed the BJP government could fulfil their aspirations.

The BJP candidate said he was confident that the party would perform strongly in the by-election and receive substantial support from minority voters.

The Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election is scheduled for October 6, with counting of votes set for October 9.
