"Act East policy begins from Northeast": Kiren Rijiju at investors summit

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, speaking at the 'Rising Northeast Investors Summit', highlighted the rapid progress of the Northeast region and its emerging role as a strategic and economic hub.
 

“People from industries and all backgrounds are participating,” Rijiju said, expressing his satisfaction with the region’s growing engagement in national development. “I am very happy that the Northeast is not lagging behind in any sphere but progressing very fast,” he added.

Emphasising the region's strategic importance, he remarked, “The Northeast is now the gateway to Southeast Asian countries. India's Act East policy begins from the Northeast. Geographical isolation is an old concept; we are at the forefront of development.”

The remarks were made at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, a flagship investment event hosted by the Ministry of Development of the Northeastern Region.

The summit showcased growing investor confidence in the region and underlined the Centre’s focus on unlocking the Northeast’s potential through infrastructure, trade, and cross-border connectivity.
