AGP candidate Karim Uddin Barbhuiya highlights development, praises Himanta’s leadership in Sonai campaign
As campaigning intensifies for the Assam Assembly Elections 2026, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate from Sonai constituency, Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, has said that development works in the region and cooperation with the state leadership have strengthened public trust.
Barbhuiya said he has “extended a helping hand” to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and expressed satisfaction over ongoing development initiatives in the constituency.
Speaking to the media on March 28, he said multiple infrastructure, healthcare, and education-related projects have been implemented in the region, including bridges, road connectivity upgrades, and public welfare schemes.
He also expressed strong support for the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with the Assam Chief Minister, saying that he is “very happy with their leadership.”
Barbhuiya said the proposed expressway project, currently under construction, would significantly improve connectivity in the Barak Valley region. He added that the highway would open up new economic opportunities, reduce travel time, and boost trade and industrial prospects for local people.
He further claimed that improved infrastructure would benefit youth employment and strengthen the region’s long-term economic growth, particularly in Sonai and surrounding areas.
