In the political landscape of Assam, a complex narrative unfolds as Congress leader Bhupen Borah accuses AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal of aiding Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in securing the Karimganj seat.
Speaking to the media, APCC president Bhupen Borah said, "Yes, we had a discussion with TMC with regards to the Karimganj seat but in the last few days we have observed that TMC's stronghold is West Bengal and the TMC chief and Bengal CM has repeatedly said that she will not give any seats to Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. So in TMC's stronghold, if there is no understanding between TMC-Congress then how can there be understanding in the rest of the states of India."
Further on the Karimganj and Dhubri Lok Sabha seat, Bhupen Borah said, "Ajmal is gearing up to support Himanta Biswa Sarma so that BJP wins the Karimganj seat and on the otherhand, Himanta Biswa Sarma is showering full support to AIUDF to win the Dhubri constituency seat...both of them are helping each other."

Borah also claimed that BJP will not field candidates in the Dhubri constituency so that Badruddin Ajmal does not face any difficulties, however, AIUDF will field its candidate in Karimganj so that it can divide the votes based on religion and make BJP win.
The current Member of Parliament from Karimganj is Kripanath Mallah of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who has been serving since his election in the 17th Lok Sabha.
However, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has expressed its intention to contest in Karimganj, as stated by AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal, who mentioned that the party will contest in three out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam, including Dhubri, Nagaon, and Karimganj.
Dhubri, another constituency with a considerable Muslim electorate, falls under the Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency. Dr. Rafiqul Islam, a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from the AIUDF since 2011, represents the Jania constituency and has served as a guest professor at Gauhati University. He was elected in 2021 with the highest margin of votes in Assam. The AIUDF has had a presence in Dhubri, with Badruddin Ajmal himself being a two-time Lok Sabha MP from there.
