All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA and general secretary Rafiqul Islam on August 29 expressed grief over the devastating floods in Nepal and urged people to come together to support those affected by the disaster.
Speaking about the floods, Islam described the situation as “very sad and painful”, noting that many people had been swept away, while others lost their homes and belongings.
“What happened in Nepal is very sad and painful. Many people were swept away in the water, losing their homes, belongings, and, tragically, their lives,” he said.
Islam expressed condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and prayed for strength and patience for those affected.
He also acknowledged the assistance being extended by India, the Nepal government and others in the wake of the disaster.
“At such a difficult time, everyone should come together and support the affected people in the spirit of humanity,” the AIUDF leader said.
His remarks came as rescue and relief operations continued in flood-hit parts of Nepal, where large-scale destruction and casualties have been reported.
