<p>Gogoi claimed that Hussain had declared assets worth Rs 4.38 crore in his election affidavit in 2016, while the figure increased to Rs 25.29 crore in his 2024 affidavit.</p>

<p>“During Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s tenure, listen to the untold story of the phenomenal rise in the assets of MP Rakibul,” Gogoi said while raising the issue.</p>

<p>According to the figures cited by Gogoi, Hussain’s declared assets increased by Rs 20.91 crore over the eight-year period.</p>

<p>Hussain, a senior Congress leader, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Assam’s Dhubri constituency in the 2024 general election.</p>

<p>The allegation comes amid continuing political exchanges between Gogoi and the Congress leadership in Assam.</p>

<p>The asset figures cited in the allegation are based on election affidavits and reflect declared assets. </p>

<p>The increase in declared assets, by itself, does not establish any wrongdoing or indicate the source of the increase.</p>

<p>Hussain’s response to Gogoi’s allegation was not immediately available.</p>
