Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on March 13 demanded the immediate resignation of Assam Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu and stated that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma should apologize to the people of the state for his complete failure to prevent the question paper leak.
"This is a complete failure. We demand Dr Ranoj Pegu to resign immediately and that the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma should apologize to the people of Assam. This is the crat conspiracy to the Assamese medium students,'' Gogoi said while speaking exclusively to IndiaTodayNE.
''The government is trying to transform our Assamese medium into an English medium. They are trying to break the confidence of Assamese people with all these nonsense works," he added.
On the other hand, Assam education minister Ranoj Pegu on March 13 appealed to the HSLC candidates not to panic or feel disheartened over the cancellation of the General Science examination.
Taking to Twitter, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu wrote, "The cancelled examination of General Science scheduled today(13/3/23) will now be held on 30 March 2023. On the other hand, the cancelled English examination in JR Higher Secondary School, Ganirgram will be held on 28th March. SEBA has issued notice.

It needs mention here that a day ahead of the ongoing HSLC examination in Assam, the state education board (SEBA) cancelled the General Science exam after reports of the question paper being leaked on social media surfaced on March 12.
Owing to reports of the question paper leak, the state education board announced the cancellation of the exam, and an investigation was initiated for the same.
According to the reports, the All Assam Student's Union on March 13 carried out a massive protest across the state following the frequent High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam paper leak.
