Akhil Gogoi proposes four resolutions to unite movement seeking justice for Zubeen Garg
A public discussion meeting organised by the Zubeen Garg Justice Demand Committee at Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur has called for unity among political parties, organisations and supporters to advance the demand for justice for music icon Zubeen Garg.
At the meeting, Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi proposed four resolutions aimed at bringing different groups together under a common platform, with an emphasis on keeping political considerations aside and ensuring collective participation in the movement.
One of the key proposals called for the formation of a committee without any political agenda, urging people across party lines and organisational affiliations to unite for the cause.
Gogoi also proposed that Garima Saikia Garg, Zubeen Garg's wife, lead the movement, with all participating individuals and organisations extending their support and cooperation.
Another proposal called for establishing communication with the family through Rahul Gautam Sharma, who would act as a mediator between the family and those involved in the protest movement.
The fourth proposal reiterated the need for the movement to proceed under Garima Saikia Garg's leadership, with participants standing together in their demand for justice.
The organisers had invited people close to Zubeen Garg, members of his family, political leaders and representatives of various organisations to the public discussion meeting. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, Akhil Gogoi and the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) were among those invited.
Garima Saikia Garg was also invited to attend the meeting. However, she conveyed her support for the initiative while citing legal difficulties that prevented her from being present.
The meeting sought to bring together individuals and organisations with different political affiliations on a common platform to pursue the demand for justice for the singer, whose death has prompted widespread calls for accountability in Assam.
