All Assam Bengali Parishad protests alleged atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh, burn effigy of Mohammad Yunus

The All Assam Bengali Parishad on Monday, December 22 staged a strong protest on Kali Bari Road in Sribhumi town, near the banks of the Kushiara River along the India–Bangladesh border, condemning what it described as brutal atrocities against minority communities in Bangladesh.

Members of the Sribhumi unit of the organisation expressed their anger by burning an effigy of Mohammad Yunus as part of the demonstration. The protest was marked by vocal sloganeering and a visible show of dissent, drawing attention to the alleged human rights violations across the border.

During the agitation, protesters gathered along the Kushiara River and issued a warning to Bangladesh, urging immediate steps to ensure the safety and rights of minorities. The riverbank area at the India–Bangladesh border resonated with slogans critical of Mohammad Yunus and the Bangladesh government, reflecting heightened emotions among the demonstrators.

The protest remained peaceful, with organisers stating that their objective was to highlight the plight of minorities in Bangladesh and to demand accountability through international and diplomatic channels.
