The stage is set for the All Assam inter-district Chess championship, scheduled to take place from 1st to 3rd June at the Pargdhar Chaliha Auditorium in Digboi under Tinsukia district of Assam. The championship will feature competitions for women and under 17 categories (open and girls).
This championship is organized by the Gurukul Chess Academy in Digboi, in collaboration with the parents' group of Chess Academy, senior chess players of Digboi, and Rotary Club Digboi, this event promises to be a showcase of strategic prowess and competitive spirit.
Nirmal Singh Gurung, the director of Gurukul Chess Academy, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Every year, we organize the chess championship, and this time, more than 150 chess players are expected to participate." He added that the championship serves as a platform to identify and nurture talent, with qualified players moving on to compete at the state and national levels.
"The team that will represent India at the national level will be selected from this chess championship", added Gurung.
The championship aims to not only foster a love for chess but also to reward excellence. Gurung mentioned, "The winners and runners-up of the chess championship will be awarded cash prizes along with a trophy."
With anticipation building and participants gearing up for strategic battles on the chessboard, the All Assam Inter-District Chess Championship promises to be a thrilling event celebrating the intellect and skill of chess players across Assam.
