Allegations of domestic LPG misuse and child labour surface at NH-127B project in Assam

Serious allegations of illegal use of domestic LPG cylinders and child labour have surfaced against J Infratech Pvt. Ltd., the agency engaged in the construction of National Highway 127B in parts of Dhubri and Kokrajhar districts.

According to local residents and workers, the company has allegedly been using domestic LPG cylinders for construction-related activities instead of commercial cylinders, raising concerns over possible violations of regulations governing LPG usage.

Sources further alleged that domestic gas cylinders were being distributed to labourers working at various construction sites along the highway project. Critics have also questioned the response of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, alleging a lack of enforcement action despite the reported violations.

Adding to the controversy, allegations have emerged regarding the employment of underage workers at some construction sites. Local residents claimed that minor children were engaged in labour-intensive work related to the highway project.

The issue gained attention after media personnel reportedly visited one of the construction sites and found domestic LPG cylinders and workers alleged to be minors present at the location. Reports claimed that some site supervisors left the area after noticing the arrival of journalists.

Community leaders and local activists have demanded an immediate inquiry into the allegations and called upon the district administration and relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.

No official response from J Infratech Pvt. Ltd. was available at the time of filing this report. Authorities have also not yet issued any statement regarding the allegations.

The claims remain allegations, and an official investigation is awaited to ascertain the facts.
