Allegations of illegal activities along Nagaon bypass surface; police complaint filed
Serious allegations have surfaced regarding the alleged operation of illegal activities, including prostitution and extortion, at several roadside establishments along the Borghat Bypass in Assam's Nagaon district.
According to claims circulating locally, two individuals identified as Rekib Ali and Rakibul Islam have been accused of being involved in the alleged supply of women to certain dhabas and restaurants operating in the area. The allegations further claim that some of these establishments have become hubs for suspicious activities during evening hours.
The accusations also extend to an alleged extortion racket. According to the claims, individuals associated with a now-defunct digital portal allegedly photographed customers at a dhaba and later demanded money from the establishment's owner, threatening to publish the images.
Sources said the owner of the concerned dhaba and the landowner have reportedly lodged a complaint with the police regarding the matter. However, details of the complaint and the specific allegations contained in it could not be independently verified.
No official statement has yet been issued by the district police regarding the allegations, and no arrests or charges have been announced in connection with the claims.
The allegations have generated discussion in the area, with residents calling for a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts and take action against anyone found violating the law.
Authorities are expected to examine the complaints and determine whether any criminal offences have been committed. Further details are awaited.
