Allegations of irregularities surface in Assam's Kandhulimari Paramaibheti Gaon Panchayat

Allegations of administrative irregularities and undue interference have surfaced at Kandhulimari Paramaibheti Gaon Panchayat under the Juria Development Block of Nagaon district, with accusations that the panchayat president’s husband is allegedly interfering in official affairs.

The panchayat is headed by Mobashirina Begum, while her husband, Imamul Haque, has been accused of intervening in various activities and decision-making processes of the panchayat.

According to the allegations, Imamul Haque regularly visits the panchayat office and allegedly interferes in the functioning of the elected panchayat president. There are also allegations that he sometimes sits inside the panchayat office and, on some occasions, allegedly sleeps there.

Apart from the alleged interference, several other allegations of irregularities have also been raised against the functioning of the Kandhulimari Paramaiti Gaon Panchayat. However, details of the specific irregularities were not provided.

The allegations have raised questions over the functioning of the panchayat and the role of the Juria Development Block authorities in monitoring its activities.

The question now remains whether the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Juria Development Block will take cognisance of the allegations and order an inquiry into the matter.

It is important to note that the allegations against the panchayat president’s husband and the panchayat administration have not been independently verified. Whether the allegations are true or false can only be established through a fair and impartial investigation by the competent authorities.
