Assam: 10-year-old girl allegedly assaulted by a 60-year-old man in Sivasagar
In a series of distressing incidents, Assam witnesses yet another case of child abuse, raising concerns about the safety and security of minors in the state. The latest incident involves a 10-year-old girl who was allegedly a victim of attempted rape by a 60-year-old man. The incident occurred under the cover of darkness when the young girl went to buy snacks from a nearby shop.
The victim's family has lodged a complaint against the accused, identified as Jumrat Ali alias Phool Bepari, at the Sivasagar Sadar police station. The police have taken swift action and have detained Jumrat Ali under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
This shocking incident comes just weeks after another horrifying case in the Kokrajhar district of Assam. On May 16, a 13-year-old girl was abducted and raped by four individuals in a moving vehicle. The perpetrators, identified as Rubel Rahman, Imran Hussain, Mamunur Rahman, and Anowar Hussain, forcibly took the minor girl inside their car while she was returning from the market. They proceeded to rape her while driving on National Highway 31C, covering a distance of approximately 13 kilometers. The perpetrators callously abandoned the unconscious victim by the roadside.
