While the government is initiating steps, strengthening laws to protect animals, there are few people out there who continue to act inhumanely towards animals. In a hair raising incident reported from Assam's Sorbhog under Barpeta district, as many as 16 street dogs were killed by a group of people allegedly by poisoning.
At least 16 dogs, roaming around the town were killed by mixing poison into goat meat meant for serving the dogs at Highway Chowk in Sarbhog.
Several dogs had come to the meat market in Sarbhog to eat the waste meat.
The dogs are suspected to have died as someone mixed the poison with the meat and fed the dogs.
One can see in the video, the dogs are writhing on the ground with many drooling or already unconscious. Sixteen dogs died during the daytime on Sunday, November 6.
Soon after the news of the dogs being killed by poison spread across the town, people strongly reacted to this inhuman and brutal act and demanded strict action against the perpetrators.
