A joint police operation on Tuesday led to the recovery of 21 stolen batteries believed to have been taken from Rupsi Airport near Dhubri, Assam.
The raid was carried out at a shop named "New Battery House" in Gauripur by Gauripur Police, in coordination with Rupshi Out Post Police from Kokrajhar and airport authorities.
The operation was initiated following a confidential tip-off. Azibar Ali Sheikh was arrested during the raid and has been taken to Kazigaon Police Station in Kokrajhar for further questioning.
The seized batteries, identified as Amaron Quanta 42AH, 12V units, were reported missing from the airport just days before the operation. Police sources suggest the batteries were likely stolen as part of a planned theft.
