The Goalpara district administration today conducted an eviction drive targeting government-owned land in Baladmari‑Part 1 of Rajha village, under the Balijana Revenue Circle.
This morning, personnel equipped with excavators demolished 23 unauthorized shops located near the offices of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the District Transport Officer in Goalpara town.
In addition, the boundary wall of the 'Roni Plaza' hotel—constructed illegally on state land—was brought down during the operation. Goalpara Police were present on site throughout the eviction to maintain law and order during the process.
An official spokesperson stated that the demolition initiative aimed to reclaim public land encroached upon by commercial establishments. The operation proceeded without incident and is expected to continue in other encroachment hotspots within the district.
