Assam: 29 teachers face action for tardiness at Patacharkuchi Vidyapith in Bajali

Tension gripped Patacharkuchi and the surrounding areas after the Education Department issued show-cause notices to 29 teachers of Patacharkuchi Vidyapith for allegedly not being present on time at the school premises.

The incident has sparked widespread discussion among the local public and education circles in the Bajali district.

According to reports, Bitupon Hazarika, an Inspector from the Barpeta District Education Department, conducted a surprise inspection at the school premises on Thursday morning. He reportedly found that 29 teachers were not present on time and recorded their absence accordingly.

In response, a section of the teachers claimed that they had arrived on time, but were not allowed to sign the attendance register, leading to confusion over their presence.

However, both local residents and the education officer maintain that the teachers were indeed late in entering the school premises, and the notices were issued based on verified observations.

The development has led to a sharp reaction in the community, with calls for greater accountability and punctuality in educational institutions.

The matter is currently under departmental review.
