Assam: 29th Ma Manasa Puja at Baksa’s Hudukhata suspended amid India-Pak tension

In view of the prevailing situation in the state, the celebration committee has decided to suspend the 29th edition of the Shri Shri Ma Manasa Puja at Hudukhata (Bakulatal) in Baksa district.

The revered five-day-long festival, which was scheduled to take place from May 13 to May 17, has been officially called off this year. Organizers have confirmed that instead of the usual large-scale celebrations, the rituals will be performed in a symbolic manner.

The Ma Manasa Puja, a significant religious event in the region, has been celebrated uninterruptedly since 1997. This year marks the first time in its 29-year history that the event will not be held in its traditional grandeur.

The celebration committee expressed regret over the cancellation but emphasized that the decision was made keeping in mind the broader interests of public safety and state circumstances.
