Assam: 42 years on, ABMSU holds candlelight vigil in Kokrajhar to protest Nelli Massacre

The All Bodoland Minority Students' Union (ABMSU), on February 18, held a candlelight vigil at Assam's Kokrajhar City protesting over the Nelli massacre.

The protest took place on the main road of Bagicha village, near Kokrajhar city in the evening today, organised by the ABMSU Kokrajhar District Committee with the support of the regional committee.

During the event, ABMSU's Central General Secretary, Jaidul Islam, participated. He stated that despite 42 years having passed since the Nelli massacre, no government has arrested those involved in the killings. He also lamented that the report of the Tiwari Commission, formed by the government, has not been made public.

The event saw the participation of ABMSU's Central Executive President, Moinuddin Ali, Central leader Ataur Rahman, Kokrajhar District General Secretary Dilwar Ali, and over a hundred members of the student organisation.
