Assam: 420 new VCDC secretaries appointed, 26 official vehicles handed over in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar witnessed a major push for grassroots governance on Friday as 420 appointment letters were distributed to newly recruited Village Council Development Committee (VCDC) secretaries. Alongside this, 26 official vehicles were handed over to Project Directors, DRDAs, and Block Development Officers (BDOs) at the Bodofa Cultural Complex.

The event, organised by the Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), was attended by BTR Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, Deputy Chief Gobinda Basumatary, and Executive Members Dhananjay Basumatary and Dr. Nilut Swargiary.

Addressing the gathering, CEM Pramod Boro highlighted the significance of the move for strengthening rural administration. He stated that the appointments would “strengthen grassroots governance in BTR and boost efficiency and service delivery in rural development, ensuring faster progress and better facilities for our people.”

The programme concluded with dignitaries officially handing over appointment letters to the new VCDC secretaries, followed by the symbolic handover of vehicle keys to the concerned officials.
