Assam: 52-year-old man killed in rhino attack in Majuli's Bhakat Chapori area

A tragic incident occurred in the Padumoni village of Bhakat Chapori in Majuli this morning (February 20) where a person was killed in a rhino attack.

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Shunti Barua. 

Upon hearing the news, circle officers and forest officials immediately left for the location of the attack. The local administration has made arrangements to transport the deceased to Pitambardev Goswami district hospital in Gadmoor.

It is noteworthy that several rhinos have been freely roaming in various char-chapris of Majuli, including Bhakat Chapri. Despite this, the forest department has been unable to chase them back to Kaziranga.
