A second-grade student named Chanbir Timung tragically died after falling into water while playing with friends in Kaliabor on Monday. Despite being rushed to the Jakhalabandha Sub-Divisional Hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
Chanbir, a resident of Barhola Killing village under the Jakhalabandha Police Station area, was studying at a private school in Diphu. He had come home to his village for the summer vacation when the incident occurred.
According to local sources, the child was playing near a water body with other children when he accidentally slipped and fell in. Efforts were made to rescue him and take him to the hospital immediately, but he could not be saved.
The incident has cast a pall of grief over the village. Locals have expressed concern about safety measures for children during the summer break, urging parents to be vigilant. Police have been informed, and standard procedures are being followed.
