Assam: AASU celebrates ‘Mukoli Bihu’ at Judges’ field

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) organised a grand celebration of 'Mukoli Bihu' at Judges’ Field in Guwahati today, marking the festive occasion of Rongali Bihu.

The festivities commenced at 11:00 am, with a vibrant display of cultural pride. The event began with the hoisting of the Bihu flag by esteemed lyricist and music director, Prashanta Bordoloi. Simultaneously, the AASU flag was raised by Utpal Sharma, President of AASU. In a solemn gesture, AASU's General Secretary, Sankar Jyoti Baruah, paid tribute to the martyrs, acknowledging their sacrifices.

A significant highlight of the event was the recognition and celebration of individuals who have brought glory to Assam through their remarkable achievements. Padmashree Awardee Parbati Barua, Dron Bhuyan, Sarbeshwar Basumatary, and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Dulal Roy, among others, were felicitated for their outstanding contributions across various fields. The felicitation ceremony was presided over by AASU Chief Advisor, Dr. Samujjal Bhattacharya.

Adding to the cultural extravaganza, the Mukoli Bihu celebration featured captivating performances by 100 youths from the Mishing community, showcasing the vibrant "Gumrag Dance." Additionally, 100 Garo youths enthralled the audience with the enchanting "Wangala Dance." Attendees were treated to the melodious tunes of the Bihu Husori Dols, amplifying the festive ambiance.

A poignant segment of the event was the special performance titled 'Ekazoli Shraddhanjali', commemorating a solemn tribute.

The Mukoli Bihu celebration not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of Assam but also served as a platform to honor and celebrate the exemplary achievements of individuals who have made significant contributions to the state and its people.
