Assam: Accident in Dibrugarh claims one life, 4 others critically injured after vehicle plunges into river

A tragic accident occurred near Lahowal in Dibrugarh on the Dibrugarh-Duliajan, Joypur, and Naharkatia road, when a vehicle with the registration number AS06AK 8716 crashed into a river, resulting in the death of one person and leaving four others critically injured.

The deceased has been identified as Ishan Gogoi, while the injured are Akhiraj Gogoi (28), Tridip Gogoi (30), Latu Gogoi (26), and Biplab Gogoi (28). The victims were quickly rescued and rushed to Assam Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Ishan Gogoi’s body was recovered from the submerged vehicle by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), but he was declared dead upon arrival.

The victims, all residents of Tamulikhat in Tengakhat, were returning home after attending a wedding. They had dropped off the bride at Bakul Majgaon in Dibrugarh and were heading back when the vehicle tragically veered off the bridge and plunged into the river.

The accident occurred late at night amidst thick fog, when the vehicle lost control and fell into the river. Ishan Gogoi tragically lost his life, while his relatives continue to fight for their lives.
