In response to rising floodwaters in various parts of the region, Margherita Circle Officer Gyan Jyoti Dutta addressed the media on Sunday afternoon, providing a detailed update on the ongoing flood situation in the Margherita Co-District.
Circle Officer Dutta confirmed that over 10 revenue villages across the Margherita subdivision have been severely inundated due to continuous rainfall and rising water levels. The administration has set up 13 relief camps to shelter and support the displaced population.
While inspecting the relief arrangements at Margherita No. 1 Alubari Primary School, the Circle Officer assured that the district’s disaster management system is fully prepared to tackle the crisis. Adequate stocks of essential food supplies are in place, and arrangements for meals have been made in all operational relief camps.
Speaking to the media, Dutta appealed to residents of flood-affected areas to prioritize their safety and take refuge in the designated relief shelters.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to providing timely assistance and ensuring the well-being of all those impacted by the flood.
