Assam: AIUDF MLA faces FIR over alleged assault, students' body demands action  

AIUDF MLA from Bilasipara East, Shamsul Huda is under scrutiny after an FIR was filed against him at Tamarhat police station in Dhubri.

The complaint, lodged by the All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRASU), Undivided Goalpara, Dhubri Branch, accused the legislator of assaulting a contractor’s employee, Sahidur Rahman, during a foundation stone-laying event for an RCC bridge at Daikhowa Market under Bilasipara subdivision.  

The allegations have intensified political tensions, with AKRASU ramping up pressure on authorities. The group previously filed an FIR at Gauripur police station before approaching Tamarhat police on Tuesday.  

AKRASU leaders have demanded strict legal action and even called for the removal of Huda from his MLA position. They insist that the case be handled with urgency, emphasising the need for justice.
