An alleged gang of women has reportedly been involved in a series of thefts at the Mahamrityunjay Temple in Nagaon, raising concerns among devotees visiting during the holy month of Shravan.
According to reports, the group of women allegedly posed as devotees and took advantage of the crowded temple premises to steal mobile phones, wallets, and other personal belongings. The incidents have caused distress among pilgrims who had gathered in large numbers for darshan and religious offerings.
Sources claim that the women involved in the thefts are believed to be from outside the state. Their alleged activities have left many visitors feeling unsafe within the sacred temple grounds.
Temple authorities and devotees have expressed concern over the repeated incidents, urging for heightened security measures, especially during the Shravan rush.
In response to the situation, the Purani Gudam Police have launched an investigation into the matter. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to identify and apprehend the alleged culprits.
The police have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
