Assam: Amid torrent rainfall, PMAY houses erode by aggressive Tipkai river in Dhubri

The situation at Sadhubhasha Part I village in West Bilasipara, Dhubri, is fatal due to extensive riverbank erosion caused by the Tipkai River.

A number of homes including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) have been lost to advancing rivers as a result of this erosion, which has had a severe effect on the local economically disadvantaged households.

The Tipkai River has been rising recently as a result of days of nonstop rain, and those who are impoverished living in the char area are in a miserable position. In the Athani revenue circle in West Bilasipara in the Dhubri district, a total of 27 impoverished families that fall below the poverty line became the victims of the aggressive Tipkai River.

In accordance with the directives of the Athani Revenue Circle Office's Revenue Circle Officer, Lat Mandal Nazrul Islam gathered comprehensive data regarding the family's loss in the riverbed.

For the villagers, it is imperative that state and local authorities, such as the Assam government, district commissioner Dibakar Nath of Dhubri, and recently elected MP Rakibul Hussain, respond promptly and decisively.
