Assam: Another woman missing from Margherita amid rising concerns over safety

A 45-year-old woman has gone missing from Segunbari Sukapha Nagar in Margherita, adding to growing concerns over the safety of women in the 83rd Margherita constituency of Tinsukia district.

The missing woman, identified as Gouri Dey, was last seen early on the morning of Friday, June 20. According to her elder sister, Jharna Dey, Gouri left their rented home around 5:00 am and has not returned since.

The family has filed a missing persons report at the Margherita Police Station. Authorities are urging anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call 8453202843.

Local residents have expressed concern over what they describe as a troubling pattern of cases involving women in the area. The Margherita constituency has seen a noticeable increase in reports related to crimes against women in recent months, prompting calls for stronger local safety measures.

Jharna Dey has appealed to the Margherita Police and district administration for urgent action to locate her sister. The case remains under investigation.
