In a disturbing revelation, a probe has exposed the appalling state of healthcare services at Barigram Model Hospital in Sribhumi, the only medical facility serving over one lakh residents.
At 11:51 p.m., the hospital presented a shocking scene fans whirred, lights glowed, but the premises stood deserted. There was no doctor, no nurse, and not a single health worker on duty. The night duty bed lay empty, the maternity ward was locked, and the cries of desperate patient attendants went unanswered.
An investigation documented this grim reality, confirming what locals have been alleging for years: severe neglect and lack of basic medical services at the hospital.
Residents say that while the hospital is supposed to function as a model healthcare centre, its services collapse entirely after nightfall. In case of emergencies or accidents, there is no provision for immediate care due to the complete absence of medical staff during night hours.
Locals blame the district health department and administration, accusing them of being in a "deep slumber" while people continue to suffer due to systemic negligence.
The revelations have reignited demands for urgent reforms to ensure that Barigram Model Hospital functions as a real lifeline instead of an abandoned building at night.
