Assam: APS officer tips off police about parents' illegal liquor trade in Guwahati

Police seized a substantial quantity of foreign liquor from a residence in Malibagan, Latasil area of Guwahati on Thursday, following information provided by the property owner's daughter, a serving APS officer.

The house, registered in the name of the female Deputy Superintendent of Police currently posted in Sonitpur district, was allegedly being used by her parents to operate an illegal liquor distribution network.

According to police sources, the officer's parents, including her father Dhan Das, fled the premises before the raid could be completed. Authorities discovered multiple cartons of foreign liquor stored at the location.

This is not the first time Dhan Das has been involved in such activities. He was previously arrested for running a similar operation in the Uzanbazar area. As per the police, despite multiple raids and warnings, he continued the illegal trade.
In an unusual turn of events, it was the DSP herself who alerted the Latasil Police about her parents' illicit business.

Reportedly, the officer had severed ties with her father due to his persistent involvement in liquor smuggling.

Police have launched a manhunt for the fugitive parents while continuing to investigate the scale of the operation.
