Assam army jawan shot dead by colleague at army camp in Uttar Pradesh

In a shocking incident, an army jawan hailing from Assam's Dima Hasao district died after he was shot dead by his colleague at a army camp in Uttar Pradesh. 

Havildar Komal Jaishi was shot dead by his colleague Rajesh Ratna, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, at the 606 EME Army Camp under Bareilly police station in Uttar Pradesh. 

Today the body of the victim was brought to his native village, where his last rites were performed with full honours.

Uttar Pradesh Additional Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhatti said that the incident took place on February 23, when Rajesh Ratna shot dead Jaishi at the army camp under Bareilli police station. 

After receiving this information, an investigation was launched at the police camp in Bareli police station of Uttar Pradesh and after seeing the CCTV footage, the culprit Rajesh Ratna was arrested.

The brother of Komal Jaishi said that the his brother was scheduled to retire on March 31 and he had gone to sign some documents but after going to the Army camp in Uttar Pradesh, there was a fight with the grand commander of the camp Rajesh Ratna.

He alleged that the Army's 606 EME Regiment reported that Komal Jaishi had died of a stroke to cover up the incident but the police reached the spot and arrested the army jawan Rajesh Ratna after looking at the CCTV footage. Meanwhile, a case in this regard has been registered from victim's family at The Bareilly police station.

Meanwhile, the Assam Gorkha Sammelan and Gorkha Students' Organisation strongly condemned the incident and demanded strict punishment for the killer army jawan and demanded a one-time financial assistance to the family of Havildar Komal Jaishi.
