Assam Artists urge unity in peaceful protest seeking justice for Zubeen Garg
Artists Rahul Gautam Sarma and Ritrisha Sarma joined Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi in a protest in Zubeen Kshetra, demanding justice for singer Zubeen Garg and the truth about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Rahul Gautam Sarma said the initiative for the peaceful protest was taken up by Garima Garg Saikia and Palmee Borthakur. He said Garima Garg had informed people about the protest through social media, while the organisers had also personally informed Akhil Gogoi about the initiative.
Sarma said he had joined the protest to support the demand for justice and was ready to participate in efforts to ensure accountability in the case.
Singer Ritrisha Sarma said the protest was entirely non-political and called on people to unite for the cause. She stressed that collective participation would strengthen the demand for justice and help bring out the truth about what happened on the day of Zubeen Garg’s death.
The artists called for a peaceful and united effort to ensure that the truth emerges and those found responsible are held accountable through the legal process.
