Assam–Arunachal connectivity hit after storm uproots trees in Tinsukia border areas

A severe storm that lashed the Margherita region on Tuesday night, April 21, caused widespread disruption, severely affecting connectivity in the border areas of Tinsukia district.

According to reports, strong winds uprooted several large trees, which fell across key roads linking Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Areas such as Miao, Jagun, and Namsai were among the worst affected, with major routes completely blocked.

The obstruction brought vehicular movement between the two states to a near halt, leaving commuters stranded and disrupting the movement of essential goods.

Residents have expressed concern over the delay in clearing operations, alleging that no immediate action was taken by the forest authorities in Jagun to remove the fallen trees. As a result, travelers and locals have been facing prolonged inconvenience since the storm struck.
