Assam: Bajali school principal rejects claims of illegal land occupation, accuses villager of conspiracy
Bhavesh Sharma, principal of Ananta Academy, has rejected allegations levelled against him over illegal occupation of land by a resident in Assam’s Bajali district, describing the claims as false and baseless.
Addressing a press conference held at the academy premises on Wednesday, May 30, Sharma denied accusations related to alleged illegal land occupation, abduction of Das’s wife Niru Das, and misleading authorities regarding the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
According to Sharma, Gergeria village is his native place and he had purchased a plot of land there nearly eight to ten years ago. He stated that due to personal difficulties, he could not complete the mutation process for the land within the stipulated period.
Sharma further alleged that Dimbeswar Das and his wife had jointly raised “conspiratorial” allegations against him by taking advantage of the delay in mutation procedures. He claimed the accusations were intended to malign his public image and reputation in society.
The allegations had earlier been raised publicly by Dimbeswar Das, who accused Sharma of illegally occupying land and involvement in other alleged irregularities.
No official statement from the district administration or law enforcement authorities regarding the matter was immediately available at the time of filing this report.
