Assam: Bank officials caught in financial scam in Bajali branch

Authorities have uncovered a financial scam at the Union Bank branch in Bajali. Allegations of embezzlement have surfaced, particularly regarding discrepancies in deposited funds.

After a woman complained of missing funds in her account—initially depositing Rs 19,000 rupees but later finding only Rs 14,000 rupees—the bank's credibility has come under scrutiny. Despite official assurances, the missing funds have yet to be recovered, leaving not just one, but many customers in distress.

The woman said  "We come to the bank to deposit money, feeling that our money is safe in the bank. But if money goes missing from the bank, how can we trust the bank? At first, they denied it, but when we showed the receipt to them, they redeposited the money. And after that, we received Rs 5000 in our account."
