Assam: Barpeta shop burgled in front of SP office, CCTV equipment and cash stolen
A grocery shop located right in front of the Superintendent of Police's office in Assam's Barpeta was allegedly burgled, raising concerns over security in the area.
The theft took place at the grocery shop owned by Munindra Nath Talukdar. According to the shop owner, the burglars entered the premises after breaking through the ceiling.
The thieves allegedly took away CCTV-related equipment and around Rs 2,000 in loose cash kept at the shop. They also ransacked areas where cash and other goods were stored before fleeing the spot.
This is reportedly the third time that the shop has been targeted by burglars.
The incident, occurring right in front of the SP office, has raised concerns among residents and members of the local community over security arrangements in the area.
Questions have also been raised over the safety of Munindra Nath Talukdar's shop, particularly as it has allegedly been burgled repeatedly.
