Assam: BJP bags two Zila Parishad seats in Margherita uncontested, 13 party candidates win unopposed

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a significant pre-poll victory in the upcoming Panchayat elections, winning two Zila Parishad seats unopposed in the 83 No. Margherita Assembly constituency. The development came to light following the official scrutiny of nomination papers.

According to reports, Rajendra Prasad Rai of Kumarpatty Gaon Panchayat and Manjuri Bharali Nath of Ledo Gaon Panchayat have been declared elected unopposed to the Zila Parishad, as no other candidates filed nominations against them.

The BJP’s Margherita unit celebrated the uncontested wins as a major morale booster ahead of the polls.

In addition to the Zila Parishad wins, 13 BJP candidates have been elected unopposed across several local bodies:

Hamukjaan Gaon Panchayat: 3 ward members

Ledo Gaon Panchayat: 3 ward members

Ledo Colliery Gaon Panchayat: 2 ward members

Ketetong Gaon Panchayat: 3 ward members

Kumarpatty Gaon Panchayat: 2 ward members

Bhitorpowai Gaon Panchayat: 1 ward member

Furthermore, two Anchalik Panchayat (AP) members—one each from Kumarpatty and Ledo Gaon Panchayats—have also secured uncontested victories.
