Assam BJP MLA Shiladitya Dev attacks TMC, alleges culture of corruption in West Bengal
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Shiladitya Dev launched a sharp attack on the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that the party had inherited and institutionalised a culture of corruption in West Bengal.
Speaking on the ongoing political developments involving the TMC, Dev claimed that practices allegedly introduced during the rule of the Communist Party were later adopted by the TMC, which, according to him, trained its cadres in corrupt activities.
He further alleged that individuals involved in illegal operations and syndicate networks are now facing difficulties due to increased scrutiny and enforcement measures.
Referring to the political situation after the BJP's rise in influence, Dev said that people are now able to speak out more fearlessly against corruption and unlawful activities.
The BJP leader's remarks come amid continuing political exchanges between the BJP and TMC over governance, corruption allegations and law-and-order issues in West Bengal.
TMC leaders have repeatedly rejected similar allegations in the past, accusing the BJP of using politically motivated attacks to target the party and its leadership.
