The Sribhumi District Council has been formally constituted, with BJP securing an absolute majority for the first time in its history. The council formation took place at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s office in the presence of District Commissioner Pradeep Dwivedi.
Out of 16 council members who participated in the voting process, BJP claimed a commanding position with 11 members. Anil Kumar Tripathi, elected from the Patharkandi constituency, emerged as the new President of the District Council. Tripathi is closely associated with Minister and Patharkandi MLA Krishnendu Paul. The Vice President post was secured by BJP’s Sathi Rani Kuri.
The swearing-in and felicitation ceremony saw the presence of several prominent leaders including Minister Krishnendu Paul, Karimganj North MLA Bijoy Malakar, and former Rajya Sabha MP Mission Ranjan Das. They extended warm congratulations to the newly elected President and Vice President, emphasizing the BJP's growing grassroots influence in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Krishnendu Paul stated that the BJP's clean sweep in the District Council was a result of the people’s trust in the party’s vision for local development and administrative transparency. He also reiterated the government's commitment to fast-tracking development initiatives in Sribhumi and surrounding areas.
