Assam: Bodies of three accident victims brought home, grief grips Nagaon’s Panikhaiti

The bodies of three members of a family killed in a road accident were brought to their home in Panikhaiti, Nagaon district, on Tuesday night, October 6, triggering an outpouring of grief among relatives and local residents.

The bodies of Ribul Ali, Manimai Begum and Amir Uddin reached their residence, under the jurisdiction of Nanai Police Outpost, at around 9 pm. Their arrival led to scenes of mourning, with relatives and neighbours gathering at the house.

Hundreds of residents from Panikhaiti, including elderly people, men, women and young people, visited the family home to pay their last respects to the deceased.

The three had died in a road accident at Khetri in Sonapur while returning towards Nagaon from Guwahati after dropping their son at the airport. Three other people, including a young child, were seriously injured in the accident.

The child, Anichu Sultana, who survived the crash, was also brought back to the family home on Tuesday night.

The deaths have left the Panikhaiti area in mourning, with a large number of people continuing to visit the bereaved family and attend the last rites of the deceased.
