Assam: Bodo Sahitya Sabha concludes with focus on cultural heritage, education

The 64th Annual Conference of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) wrapped up on Sunday at Dwimu Nwgwr in Dimakuchi, Udalguri, after four days of vibrant cultural and literary events.

 

One of the highlights was a cultural showcase featuring performances from Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Nepal, alongside Assam's indigenous cultural troupes. The demonstrations celebrated the rich traditions and diverse heritage of the region, drawing significant attention from attendees.

 

An open session followed the cultural events, where Assam's Cabinet Minister for Water Resources and Information & Public Relations, Pijush Hazarika, participated as the chief guest. He emphasised the importance of preserving Bodo culture and language while fostering educational advancements for the community.

 

Prominent figures who attended the session included Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, BTC Legislative Assembly Speaker Katiram Boro, BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, and Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma. Other key attendees were MPs Rwngwra Narzary and Jayanta Basumatary, as well as BTR Executive Members and Bodo Welfare Development Council leaders.

 

The conference provided a platform for the Bodo community to reflect on its cultural heritage, address educational concerns, and strategise for the future, underlining the Sabha’s role in shaping the community's literary and cultural identity.
