Assam: Bodoland University Youth Festival celebrates region's rich culture

The 3rd Bodoland University Youth Festival kicked off on Thursday, offering a vibrant celebration of the region's diverse cultural heritage. The four-day event, held on the university's campus in Kokrajhar, aims to provide a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and promote unity through diversity.

The festival's opening day was marked by a lively cultural rally, officially inaugurated by Bodoland University Vice-Chancellor, Dr BL Ahuja. The rally featured a captivating display of the region's traditional music, dance, and art forms, drawing attention to the rich cultural tapestry of Bodoland and Assam.

One of the festival's centrepiece events, a grand cultural procession, took place on the second day, with over 1,000 students from 39 affiliated colleges participating. The procession was a visual feast, as students donned traditional attire, performed folk dances, and showcased the Bodo's origins, songs, and handcrafted items that reflected the local craftsmanship.

The 3rd Bodoland University Youth Festival promises a diverse lineup of cultural events, competitions, and performances, all aimed at celebrating the creativity and talent of the students. The event provides a platform for the youth to engage with the cultural fabric of the region and promote unity through diversity.

Organisers are hopeful that the festival will continue to foster camaraderie among students from different colleges, with various cultural and academic events lined up over the next few days.

The event has been warmly received by the local community, further strengthening the cultural ties among the diverse communities in Bodoland and beyond.
