Assam: Body found near lodge in Dispur Supermarket, police launch probe

A man was found dead under mysterious circumstances near a lodge in Guwahati’s Supermarket area on Thursday morning, sparking concern and prompting a police investigation.

The body was discovered near Bibash Lodge, located close to the Gauhati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC). Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased, although preliminary information suggests he had arrived in the city for his wife’s medical treatment and was residing at the lodge.

According to sources, the man had stepped out of the lodge early in the morning, after which his lifeless body was found near the roadside. His wife and mother were reportedly staying in Room No. 4 of the lodge at the time of the incident.

Upon receiving a call, local police reached the location and have since initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Investigators are exploring all possible angles, including medical conditions, foul play, and other contributing factors.
