Assam: Bongaigaon police arrest two associates of trading fraudster
Bongaigaon police have arrested two individuals allegedly involved in a fraudulent trading network led by notorious scammer Mainao Brahma.
The accused, identified as Sumit Barman of Musalpur and Jyotishman Sharma of Mangaldoi, were apprehended during a raid while hiding in Bongaigaon town.
According to sources, the two youths had been working as agents for Brahma, who is wanted for orchestrating a large-scale financial fraud involving fake investment schemes that lured unsuspecting traders and investors across Assam.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Bongaigaon police launched the operation, which led to the capture of the duo from a concealed location.
Brahma’s fraudulent trading activities have caused significant financial damage, with victims coming forward from various districts. Authorities have been intensifying their search efforts to track down Mainao Brahma and dismantle the entire network.
The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated by the police, with efforts underway to gather more information about Brahma’s whereabouts and the extent of the fraudulent scheme.
