Assam: BPF celebrates 23rd BTC Accord Day, reaffirms commitment to Bodo Peace Accord

The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) celebrated the 23rd BTC Accord Day, marking the signing of the historic 2nd Bodo Peace Accord on this day in 2003.

As part of the celebrations, BPF President and former Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Hagrama Mohilary, paid floral tributes and garlanded the statue of Bodofa Upendranath Brahma at the BTC Secretariat premises.

Following this, Mohilary, accompanied by party members, proceeded to the Bodoland Martyrs’ Cemetery in Debargaon, where he hoisted the national flag and paid homage at the martyr’s memorial.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohilary reaffirmed BPF’s commitment to observing BTC Accord Day annually.

On the political front, he made a striking remark, claiming, "I have sent Chandan Brahma and Khampa Borgoyary to the UPPL party as CID deputies. They report to me daily, and I speak with them on the phone every day." He further expressed confidence that both leaders would return to the BPF.

Mohilary also asserted that BPF would secure 25 seats in the upcoming BTC elections and form the government. Additionally, he accused BTC Chief Executive Member Promod Boro of transferring 16 departments to Dispur, stating that if BPF returns to power, those departments will be reclaimed.

To mark the occasion a motorcycle rally was organized from BPF block offices in Fakiragram Dotma, Banargaon, Narabari, Salakati and Tinali towards Debargaon.

The BTC Accord signed on February 10, 2003 was a significant milestone in resolving the long-standing Bodo movement, leading to the creation of the Bodoland Territorial Council. The BPF has been celebrating the day annually to commemorate the agreement.
