Assam: BTR Chief Pramod Boro lays foundation stone for new Bodo Sahitya Sabha building in Salbari

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro visited Shalbari in Assam’s Baksa district on Wednesday, where he ceremonially laid the foundation stone for the newly proposed building of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, a pivotal cultural and literary institution of the Bodo community.

Speaking at the event, Boro highlighted the crucial role played by the Sabha in preserving and promoting the Bodo identity. “It is because of the existence of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha that our language, literature, and culture continue to thrive,” he remarked.

Drawing from the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, Boro added, “As Lord Krishna said — continue doing your duties without expecting the fruits.”

During his address, Boro made significant observations regarding the upcoming 25th BTR elections, reflecting on the region's recent progress. “Peace could not be achieved in 17 years, but it came within just 5 years. Peace has now been established in BTR — I seek nothing more than this,” he affirmed.

Underscoring the values of democracy, Boro reiterated that every citizen has the right to participate in politics and that freedom of expression is vital in a democratic society.
“All political parties are working, but we are aligned with the NDA,” he added.

In a notable gesture, Boro extended his regards to former BPF Chief Hagrama Mohilary, referring to him as an “elder brother”, signaling a tone of mutual respect.

The event was attended by local dignitaries, cultural leaders, and members of the literary community, marking a significant moment for the ongoing preservation of Bodo heritage.
