Hagrama Mohilary, the President of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), on August 30 stated the word Bodo Territorial Region (BTR) will not be there if the the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) team loses.
''There will be no word called BTR if UPPL is defeated. Because BTR is an agreement and this agreement is not constitutional,'' he said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a joining ceremony where thousands of workers from different political parties joined the Bodo People's Front in Kokrajhar district.
Mohilary futher pointed out the changing trend in contractual jobs, where 100 out of 10 contractors are from within BTR while others come from states like Delhi, Guwahati, and Bihar, causing financial loss to the locals.
In response to a question about Raju Narzary, a UPPL leader, Mohilari stated that he did not know him personally but would engage with him if he were a good person.
It is wroth mentioning that this move comes at a time when the BPF is actively reorganizing its ranks and strategizing in response to the evolving political landscape.
The event, named "Saptgrahan," witnessed the participation of workers from both the BPF-led administrations in the Fakiragram and Dotma blocks where Hangrama Mohilari, the former Chief of BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) and President of BPF, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Other distinguished guests included Rabiram Narzary, the MLA from Kokrajhar, Debash Basumatary, President of the Kokrajhar District BPF, Prakash Basumatary from the Kokrajhar District BPF, Dr. Rajaul Karim, the Organizational Secretary of the BPF Central Committee, and Baharul Islam, a BPF Central Working Committee member, among other leaders and members.
Addressing the gathering, Derahasat Basumatri, President of the Kokrajhar District BPF, initiated the "Saptgrahan" and, subsequently, Rabiram Narzary, the MLA from Kokrajhar, delivered a speech.
The keynote speaker, Hangrama Mohilari, expressed the party's mission to unite people from diverse communities and work together towards their upliftment. He also emphasized the challenges faced by the Bengali and Muslim communities, assuring continued support from the BPF in addressing their concerns.
