Assam Cabinet minister mourns "astute leader" Manmohan Singh's demise

Assam Cabinet Minister UG Brahma condoled the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away on December 26 night. He termed his as India's "most educated and financially astute leader".
 

Speaking to reporters, Brahma expressed deep sorrow and praised Singh as one of the most educated and financially knowledgeable leaders of the country.
 

He stated that the former PM's leadership played a pivotal role in shaping India's economic landscape.
 

"He was the most educated and financially astute leader India has ever seen. Under his guidance, India made remarkable strides in economic growth, global standing, and financial reforms. His policies and vision were instrumental in India’s rise as a global player," Brahma said.
 

Singh, 92, died in AIIMS Delhi on Thursday night. He was brought to the emergency department in a critical condition in the evening.
 

Earlier today, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a seven-day state mourning in honour of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who passed away at 92.
 

From December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025, the national flag will fly at half-mast at all state government establishments, and official entertainment programs will be cancelled.
